All travels halted since March 2020, when Covid-19 struck the world, quietly since Dec 2019, and come to full blast in the first quarter of Year 2020.
Life had almost came to a stand-still. The sense of urgency by all governments to look into containing the spread of the disease. Yes, the various channels to travel out of countries were all shut as all went into full force fighting the pandemic.
Counted myself lucky that we had a family trip to Guangzhou just in December 2019... when a couple of weeks later, the whole world associate the source of the disease with the country, China.
2019 Mid-Year was when Singapore went into circuit breaker, a more 'gentle' term compared to words like "lockdown". Nevertheless, that's where movement within the island had almost came to a standstill, too - Advisory by the government.
2020 June went by quite quickly as our schedules were all shuffled, including the school holidays; and a significant amount of time was also put into work preparation while catching some rest during that stressful (though seemingly quiet) period.
Indeed, this is the period that I took opportunity to look around... and learn more about Singapore. It is quite ironical that the extent and amount of time I spent to carry out research or learn about a foreign city were far more than my own country.
To what extent, I know my country more than any foreign visitor? I wonder... Time to put in more effort.
