2025 June - Another part of Texas: San Antonia

I was grateful of the learning opportunity, which came quietly end of year 2023 - a quick check at the year-end staff dinner on whether I was interested to attend the conference. Yes, I replied. No other info came. It was quiet till March 2025. I wondered... It's Professional development - why so secretive? To me, such trips were considered as 'rewards' to good work. Till today, I'm still puzzled. What's the unsaid taboo (which I wasn't aware)?

While ASCD is not unknown to me - Yes, I know we had colleagues who went for the conference. So, it's my turn now? Hm... Preparation for the trip started in March. Really appreciated the help from Arfah - who worked quietly to arrange register for the conference, engaging us to get the flights and accommodation. I would not want to do these as part of my job duties. Yes, I declared that would not be part of my duty to the SLs when I took over as the acting SSD.

I've been to overseas conferences like BETT and those by Apple.
Yes, I know roughly what to expect.

On the other hand, I am impressed with the variety and range, and the number of sessions ASCD came with, which now has become even 'bigger' than the past, with ISTE integrated.

Overall learning: AI is to stay. It is important for us to know how to manage it, apart from being consumer, user and employer of AI. It is useful. It is helpful. BUT it's threatening. The "war" seemed to have subtly begun.

What's completed were the pallets - photo documentation of the learning journey.
Regretfully, the blog is still largely incomplete - I'm probably too ambitious, but I hope I'll get to complete it... probably after I retire and get the time to reminisce my learning journey...

One day, somebody asked, "You travelled so often. What are the airlines that you've tried." I've never counted until today...
